The first MSC containers were exported from Vietnam in 2002 and at that time, MSC was represented by a third-party agent. In 2005, MSC established our own office in the country and over the years, we have grown our local presence. We now have a total of over 160 employees in three offices in major economic hubs across Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hai Phong, and are also represented by third-party agencies in Da Nang and Quy Nhon.

LOCAL OFFICES INFORMATION

Government approval status:

As instruction from Ministry of transportation and followed by terminal, ICD and acceptance from feeder/barge operators, terminal and main shipping lines have agreed to the following:

VGM to be submitted in hard copy to terminal, ICDs by shipper at time of gate in.
Terminals will apply the policy of NO VGM = NO GATE IN and NO LOAD.
Shippers are required to submit VGM to carrier as per carrier’s cut off.
Tolerance is 500Kgs for cargo less than 10 Tons and 5% over 10 tons.

Admin Fees and costs

MSC strongly recommends customers to submit VGM via online submission. There are no administrative charges imposed by MSC for the moment. Should there be new information, it will be shared with you.

Should there be any charges levied by the 3rd party or by MSC incurred because of NO VGM received timely, it will be on Shipper’s account.

It is recommended that shippers keep the VGM records for future references if required. If in doubt, always contact MSC’s local agency office.

- After this period, the late payment charge is applied as follows:

From 9th to 15th date: VND 736,364 per BL.

We would like to announce the updated seal policy for Outbound shipments from Vietnam, effective from 3rd February 2023, based on the laden container gate-in date as below:

1. All laden containers shipped under the MSC Bill of Lading must be sealed with High-Security Bolt Seal assigned by MSC when delivered to ICDs/Terminals *, unless there are specific agreement with MSC to use Shipper’ seal before empty pick-up. MSC High-Security Bolt Seal are individually numbered, ISO/PAS 17712:2013 (current ISO standard) compliant and bear the MSC logo.

2. Shipper must check and ensure the actual seal number is recorded on Equipment Interchange receipt (EIR) when drop off laden container.

3. Shipper is responsible to affix a High Security Bolt seal immediately upon completion of stuffing process, ensuring the seal is fully locked, preparing relevant shipping instructions and reporting the seal number with the correct format (including prefix and all digits, no blank, no special characters) within Shipping Instruction cut-off.

4. Shipper is responsible to provide supporting document to MSC should below situations happen:
• Seal is damaged when under shipper's custody: picture and Letter of Indemnity (LOI)
Seal is lost by shipper or shipper's agent: Letter of Indemnity (LOI) or policy statement (if any)
• Seal is cut by Customs: Custom notification/statement or ICD/Terminal notification

5. MSC seal must be used within 21 days from distribution date to ensure the integrity of the seal. After the deadline, MSC will apply a late seal charge of VND250,000 per seal (included VAT)

This seal policy aims at minimizing the risk of unauthorized access into the container, thereby reducing the risk of cargo pilferage and the introduction of contraband. The procedure is in the interest of the container's shipper, carrier, and recipient. It fully complies with MSC's current terms & conditions.

*Except for containers that are scheduled for inspection, correct seal must be provided before Shipping Instruction cut off.
